Fourth Grade Curriculum
Energy and Waves
Everett scientists will be exploring energy and how energy can be present in various forms. They will explore potential and kinetic energy through a wind-up toy engineering experience. They will also investigate how energy can be transferred through hands-on exploration of circuits.
Structure, Function, and Information Processing: Animal Studies
In this unit, students will explore how the nature of habitats controls the kinds of organisms that may survive within it. They will also investigate how the structures and behaviors of an organism determine how it adapts to its environment. Students will conduct research on a variety of organisms and share their research results with their peers.
Earth’s Systems: Investigating Land and Water
Fourth graders will create a stream table to explore the effects of water on land. Students will create hills, build dams, and grow vegetation. Miniature valleys, waterfalls, and canyons form in the stream table as water flows over and through the soil. Through these observations, students will discover how water changes the shape of the land and how features of the land affect the flow of water.
